Bio

 Mai Goto  has played concerts in Europe, USA and Japan.

In July 2020, Mai Goto received the 1st prize of the "Emil Rotundu"competition,in Romania. Ealier, she was awarded the 1st prize in “The 24th International Music Competition Rovero d'Oro” in Italy, in 2009.

She currently lives in Bergen, where she has an active performing career. She has performed at the concert series of Edvard Grieg Museum,Troldhaugen and the Siljustøl Museum. she was the pianist in the production “Nina Grieg – a great little woman(written by Karin Stautland) at Grieg’s villa on Grieg's own piano.


She was soloist in Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No.2 on a US tour conducted by Trond Sæverud. In 2014, she was soloist in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no.5 with the University of Bergen Symphony Orchestra.

Since 2013, she has performed annually at the festival “Grieg in Bergen”,organized by Michael Süssmann.

She is collaborating on a regular basis with the violist Oliviero Hassan and the singer, Daniela Iancu Johannessen.


 Mai Goto graduated from Osaka University of Music, Japan, where she studied with Atsuhiko Shimizu, and continued her studies with György Nádor at the Liszt Academy in Budapest. she has a Master's degree from the Grieg Academy, University of Bergen, where she studied with Signe Bakke and Torleif Torgersen.
